Summer Juice Fast!

For those of you who would like to know how, why and when I first started juicing…I do NOT like whole raw food. I like steamed vegetables and pureed fruit, however every since I was a child salad or other raw fruits and vegetables were hard for me to swallow. This made it very difficult for me to get the nutrients I needed, so my mother kept me on multi-vitamins and experimented with ways to get me to eat textured agreeable fruits and veggies.
My oldest sister is a health nut, so everything nutritious has been introduced to me through her. She juiced some fruits and veggies for me and I really liked it, so I went out and bought a juicer about 10 years ago. I have been juicing on and off for fasting and cleansing purposes, but as the age of 40 came upon me I realized that it was time to take my juicing to another level. I had a hard time getting started, because I was still cooking for my children, so I decided to wait until they were gone for the summer to start a consistent program.
In this post I will share with you the grocery list, steps and tips to get you started on you summer juicing program for cleansing and weight loss.
Grocery list
Apples (green)
Beets
Carrots
Celery
Cucumber
Lemon
Gingerroot
Parsley
Spinach
Watercress
Organic Nectar or no sugar added 100% pure natural juice of your choice. If you like soy milk do that instead. I don’t, so Juice it is for me.
Bolthouse Farm drink of your choice
Whey protein powder
Recipes
Weight Loss Express
½ organic green apple
1 small handful parsley
5 medium carrots
2 celery stalks
½ lemon
The Colon Cleanser
1 bunch organic spinach
1 handful parsley
½ lemon
Morning Energizer
½ red or golden delicious apple
5 medium carrots
½ small beet w/leaves
½ lemon
½ to 1inch ginger root
Popeye’s Power
1/2 apple, any kind
1 handful spinach
1 small handful parsley
3 carrots
1 celery stalk
½ beet w/leaves
Shakes/meal replacements
Mix any of the juices on your grocery list with your whey protein. I like Attain, because it has less sugar than slim fast, but still taste better. However, it is NOT whey protein, but has a lot of protein in it and it’s a good alternative.
Organize your program the day before

1. Clean out your refrigerator and leave the first two shelves for your juicing ingredients only.
2. Organize and disinfect your juicer and juicing and cutting area.

3. Don’t forget to have a two or three 18-24 ounce cups with lids so you can store your juice for the day.
4. Tell everyone in the house who can cook for themselves that you will not be cooking for at least 3 days to a week. This gives you time to get used to your program, so you won’t be tempted.
5. Get a buddy to help push you along
Your Meal Day

1. Drink your first juice mixture within 30 mins of rising
2. Drink your whey meal replacement 2-3 hours later
3. Repeat this process of juice and meal replacement every 2-3 hours throughout the day
4. You should end up with about 6 or 7 meals
5. Drink ten 8oz glasses of water throughout day
Workout
I actually have much more energy when I juice then when I eat, so working out should be easy for you to do through your juicing program.
How long?
You can do this program as long as you need to. You know where you want to be health wise, so when you get there stop the program. Some people just want to cleanse, so when you feel clean inside gradually stop and reintroduce healthy foods into your diet.
Most of us want to lose weight. When you get to your weight goal gradually stop and reintroduce healthy foods into your diet.
